EXILE IN JERUSALEM by Motti Lerner is an Israeli play translated into English. It tells the story of the great German/Jewish poet, Else Lasker-Schuler and examines her relationship with the German critic, Werner Hermann as they struggle to survive and assimilate into Palestine. The play has been performed in Israel, the United States, Germany and Great Britain to rave reviews. It's a fantastic opportunity for Melbourne audiences to not only see an Israeli play but also discover the life and works of this great Jewish Poet.
